Hive Cam

I installed a web camera on one of my hives today. Here is the first picture from inside the hive. Now I can look in without opening the box. We will see if this continues to work after the bees get comb built. For now it is just cool to see them in action.

Are you gonna be able to eat their honey eventually? What got you into bees anyways?

Yes I have honey from last year when I adopted a hive and did everything wrong and basically killed it. So yes I will get some honey this year but next year will be much better for these hives. The first year the bees usually spend most of their time buiding up the hive. Normally they don't make much extra honey. But you never know...

I got into bees because they are essential to the food chain and there are not as many beekeepers as there needs to be and the ones that are still keeping are getting old, not that I am that young. But I want to encourage a new generation to keep bees.

They really are not that difficult or scary. They are nothing like wasps or hornets or yellow jackets of any other stinging creature. They mind their own business and keep to themselves.
